Align40sToTruckPositions

Description

The scheme for naming the positions on a truck uses the 10' position to indicate the center of a container, starting from position 1 as 10' behind the cab. Since the center of a 40' container is a 20' position, all positions for 40' containers are even numbers.

The business task rounds up a truck position to the next even number if the user provides an odd number as the position of a 40' container. This allows gate clerks and scanning systems to refer to a 40' container on a 40' chassis as being in position 1. N4, then corrects the position of the 40' container as position 2. Similarly, a 40' container in position 3 is corrected to position 4, internally.

If included, this business task is executed before the business tasks that check or assign truck positions. For more information, see Supported truck positions (on page 1).

Dependencies

The following conditions must be met:

• The chassis profiles are defined.

• The clerk or the scanning system enters an odd position for a 40' container.

Timing

• For gate transactions, such as Receive Export or Receive Empty, N4 processes tasks when you click the Save Transaction button on the gate transaction section of the <GateStage> tab (on page 1).

• For appointments, N4 processes business tasks on two occasions:

• If the business task is included in the Include column, N4 processes it when you click Save in the Appointment form (on page 1).

• If the business task is included in the Include Dispatch column, N4 processes it when you click Save after associating the appointment with a truck visit appointment.

• For truck visit appointments, N4 processes the business tasks when you click Save in the Truck Visit Appointment form (on page 1).

Custom Code

Any custom code associated with the business task is executed following the execution of this business task and has no impact on it.

RejectChassisProfileAppointmentTeuExceeded

Rejects a truck visit if the TEU for the chassis profile selected or provided at the gate exceeds the TEU specified in the appointment. If the appointment does not specify a chassis profile, then this business task rejects a truck visit if chassis profile TEU exceeds the total TEU specified in appointment.

RejectTranExceedsChassisProfileTEU

Description

This business task rejects a gate transaction if the TEU associated with the transaction exceeds the TEU limit specified for the chassis used in the truck visit.

Timing

For gate transactions, such as Receive Export or Receive Empty, N4 processes tasks when you click the Save Transaction button on the gate transaction section of the <GateStage> tab (on page 1).

RejectChassisProfileNotSupported

Rejects a truck visit if the chassis profile selected or provided is not supported. A chassis profile is not supported when the Prohibited? check box in the Chassis Profile form (on page 1) is selected.

RejectChassisProfileNotSupportedAtExchangeArea

Rejects a truck visit or gate transaction if the total TEU for the selected or provided chassis profile exceeds the Max TEU limit for the exchange area or lane. For example, if the chassis profile TEU exceeds the Max TEU for all of the exchange lanes so that the AssignExchangeLane business task is unable to assign a lane or the chassis profile TEU exceeds the Max TEU for the exchange area, this business task rejects the gate transaction or truck visit.

N4 does not use RejectChassisProfileNotSupportedAtExchangeArea business task to validate the lane status, that is, whether in open or closed.

If used, the AssignExchangeLane business task and should be included at the same gate stage as the RejectChassisProfileNotSupportedAtExchangeArea business task. The AssignExchangeLane (on page 1) business task takes into account the chassis profile TEU for the truck and any Max TEU limits for the exchange lanes.

RejectChassisProfileRequired

Rejects a truck visit if the chassis profile is not specified or if N4 did not find a single matching chassis profile. For more information, see Chassis Profile form (on page 1).
