When you use N4 or N4 Mobile to bundle equipment, N4 uses this setting to determine whether to add the gross weight of the payload units to the gross weight of the primary unit or not.
When you create a bundle, if INVWEIGHT001 is set as:
false (default): N4 does not add the gross weight of the payload units to the gross weight of the primary unit.
true: N4 adds the gross weight of the payload units to the gross weight of the primary unit.
In this case, when you use a N4 Mobile program, such as the Rail Operations or the Yard Inspector, in addition to the UNIT_BUNDLE or UNIT_UNBUNDLE event, N4 also records the UNIT_PROPERTY_UPDATE event in the event history of the unit and records the change in the gross weight of the primary unit.
You must set INVWEIGHT001 when setting up N4 for your site. If you change the setting after you have been using N4 for some time, N4 does not recalculate the gross weight of existing units. It implements the change only for new bundles.
When you bundle empty flat racks as payloads to a primary flat rack, then N4 uses the Tare Weight of the primary and payload units for calculation instead of their Gross Weight since the Freight Kind will be MTY.
