The general process of load planning with or without PWP is the same, except that with PWP, containers automatically flow onto a vessel in PWP sequence, meaning that the tool you use and the direction in which you drag containers into the bay does not affect the planning sequence. When you use PWP for load planning, containers acquire sequence numbers and work queues from projections, which acquired their sequence numbers and work queues from PWP.
You must still select containers in the yard in the required pull sequence, but with PWP, you merely identify the group of projections over which to plan the selected containers. XPS also uses the Stow Factor to ensure that the containers to be loaded match the underlying projections. If your site licenses the AutoStow Option (on page 1), XPS also determines the yard-pull sequence while PWP determines the loading pattern.
After manually sequencing projections, you can always revert to PWP by selecting the containers or projections and resequencing them starting with zero (0) (Planning Resequence).
For more information on the general process of load planning and on resequencing containers, see the manual Navis N4: Vessel Administrator and User Guide.
To automatically load containers in PWP sequence:
Click the Paint Bucket tool .
Select the containers in the yard in the required sequence.
To display a list of containers with matching Stow Factors, double-click a projection.
Plan the containers into the required bay:
To plan one container at time, click a projection in the bay.
XPS starts planning with the first uncovered projection in the work queue, stowing the first selected container, and so on, until either the preplanned work instructions or group of selected containers is completed. A container only stows over a projection if the stow factors match. If they do not match, XPS skips the projection and the flow continues with the next projection in the queue.
To flow multiple containers into specific slots of a preplanned bay (such as placing reefers into slots with reefer plugs), drag a rectangle over one or more projections.
The selected containers flow only into the slot or slots that match the selection sequence of the PWP. XPS maintains the sequencing and plans the first selected container to the lowest projection sequence in the selected range and continues until it has planned all containers in the group or until it runs out of selected slots.
