This section introduces you to modeling yard planning and control with Expert Decking.
Expert Decking provides just-in-time assignment of yard position that optimizes use of yard space and of CHE. A container can be assigned the position that minimizes CHE driving distance, avoids costly rehandles, and avoids queueing of CHE in yard blocks or rows. Optimum position differs dramatically depending on container routing, type of CHE used, and a host of other operational details. Expert Decking provides flexible user-defined elements to craft a configuration that works for you.
Expert Decking is required for optimized equipment control provided through the PrimeRoute for Straddle Carriers Option (PR-SC) or PrimeRoute for Terminal Tractors Option (PR-TT). Both options rely on assignment of container positions in the Imminent timeframe at key points in a well-defined job step process.
Because Expert Decking works seamlessly within the XPS Yard Planning and Control Module, you can implement it in a staged, controlled manner, continuing to use conventional XPS allocations where it makes operational sense.
