A TBD unit represents a unit that a terminal will handle in the future, but the unit is yet to be identified with a specific container. TBD units have many of the key properties of a unit, such as the equipment type, outbound carrier, freight kind and booking/release number as shown in the TBD Units window; however, a TBD unit does not have a current position or a specific container number.
To view TBD units in the XPS client:
From the Container menu, select TBD Units.
The TBD Units window opens, listing all existing TBD units.
To view TBD containers using the Container Find Filter Edit dialog (list or recap), add the CHST (Chassis Status) field to either the CNFNDR or CNFNDL XPS setting. In the Chassis Status field, select TB to view TBD units.
Updating positions with the Check tool
You can update TBD Units to a yard position using the Check tool, which gives the TBD unit the block + row position without occupying the slot. This will help planners to direct the empty handler to the right place to pull empties for TBD unit plans.
To update containers with the Check tool:
From the Container menu, select TBD Units.
From the TBD Units list, select the required container.
Select the Check tool.
Place the container in the required yard block.
XPS updates Yard Position field, which is specific to TBD units and sends the value to N4, which you can view in the TBD Units view and in the TBD Unit form. The Current Position field corresponds to the slot, but at the section level. That is, the value of current position is block + row format, without delimiters.
For example, if the block + row format at the terminal is ‘S3-05’, the corresponding string for TBD Unit Yard Position (in N4) and Current Position (in XPS) is ‘S305’.
